Housekeeper Duties and Responsibilities
A Housekeeper needs to clean the work area to the standards of their employer. This requires attention to detail, physical strength, and the stamina to work long shifts. Here are examples of a Housekeeper’s duties:- Understand the company’s policy on work shifts, guests’ possessions and privacy issues
- Provide basic housekeeping duties including restrooms, sales floor, kitchen and lunch rooms, restocking toilet supplies, vacuuming, dusting all furniture and other items on the sales floor
- Report and return any guest properties found in the rooms while rendering service
- Report cases of property damage in commercial spaces to supervisor
- Work with a team of housekeepers on each shift
- Clean, disinfect and store all equipment at the end of the shift
- Maintain a positive relationship with employees and guests
- Monitor and report on the inventory of cleaning supplies
- Respond to calls for housekeeping problems, such as spills and broken glass
- Collect and remove trash and debris
- Assist with laundry management, including washing, drying, ironing and sorting linen
- Report, turn in and log all lost and found items
- Clean upholstered furniture
- Perform detailed deep cleans when required
Skills Required
A successful Housekeeper candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications needed for their job duties. The ideal candidate will have excellent housekeeping skills, good communication and the ability to follow instructions.
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be physically fit and be able to lift, push & carry 20–50 lbs.
- At least one year of experience with corporate housekeeping
- Excellent working knowledge of cleaning appliances and their operations and proper use of cleaning agents
- Attention to detail
- Efficiency
- Physical strength and stamina to work extended periods
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Flexibility on the schedule
- Communication and listening skills
